Sweet yams are very grounding. They are vata balancing and are great for fall season. Spicing them up with sour , salty and pungent tastes brings in delicious flavour to their sweetness. These sweet yam patties are very quick , simple and definitely worth a try!
Makes 8 patties
Ingredients:
2 medium sized boiled sweet yams
1 tbsp grated ginger
1 tbsp finely chopped cilantro
1 green thai chilli finely chopped
1 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tbsp chestnut flour or arrowroot powder
2 tbsp ghee
Method:
1. Mash the boiled sweet yams completely.
2. Add the ginger, cilantro, green thai chilli, salt, lime juice and chestnut flour (or arrowroot powder). Mix everything well in the sweet potato purée.
3. Heat your cast iron round griddle. Meanwhile roll the sweet potato mix into round, flattened patties.
4. Add some ghee on the warm griddle and place the patties on it.
5. In about 5 minutes (or once they have browned) flip the patties on other side and cook until brown. Serve warm with cilantro mint chutney.
